Flying with Giants
"The Story"

On July 29th, 2017, guitarist Kyle Seidl sent drummer Maddie Moreau a Snapchat saying, “We should start a band. Do you know any bass players?”. Maddie immediately replied with “I love the idea!” and stated that she didn’t know any bass players in the area. At that moment, the most legendary band in Wisconsin history was starting to form. Their conversations over the next couple of months consisted of Kyle messaging Maddie, “We should do (insert song here),” and Maddie replying with “sure.” This is the exact same response Maddie gave Kyle when he asked if the band should be named Flying With Giants. They had compiled a decent setlist which contained a few songs that Flying With Giants still plays today.
After many months of almost recruiting a Door County musician (who we knew had a bass, but didn’t know if she actually could play), and a couple Rock Academy buddies (they are in their own band called Zoned. Go check them out), Flying With Giants had finally found its bassist, Keagan Handrich. Drummer Maddie Moreau recounts:
“I remember shadowing a new high school and meeting Keagan during band. He seemed really nice so I decided to follow him on instagram. We got to talking and he told me he played all the instruments that I do. I asked him if he wouldn’t mind being the bass player of Flying With Giants. Keagan, thankfully, said yes! I was in New Orleans on a band trip at this time, so my cellular data was through the roof! I think we were at an Arby’s.”
On March 10th, 2018, Flying With Giants was officially a complete band! After only practicing together twice, Flying With Giants had their first gig on August 10th, 2018, at Wienee Fest in Seymour. Everything went well (except for Keagan’s pedal board dying and Maddie freaking out because she didn’t know what was going on). Flying With Giants also played for a party at Maddie’s house that did not annoy a few neighbors at all. One of the best experiences the band had was opening for the Glam Band at the Bar on Holmgren Way on November 2nd.
On December 11th, 2018, Flying With Giants officially announced that Reed Reimer would be joining the band as rhythm guitar!
On August 3rd, 2019, Flying With Giants officially announced that Makayla Rickard would be joining the band as the bassist!
The band continues to amaze people by not practicing often and still sounding like they’ve been playing together for years. Flying With Giants is excited to see where this musical journey will take them, and they hope you will join them on the ride!
